Colorful and Authentic Market Hall Wedding | Rachel + James

Just married couple at Market Hall

Rachel and James had a colorful, dance-filled Market Hall wedding in the peak of Fall wedding season. The colors matched the vibes for this couple and their guests. Playfulness and fun emanated throughout the day and we had the best time with Rachel, James, their guests, and their vendor team! We were hired as their full service planning team and were able to help with every step of the planning process, including vendor selection, design, and logistics.

Our first planning meeting with Rachel and James taught us so much about them as a couple. We learned about their love of public transportation (shoutout to Blacksburg Transportation for their meetcute!), their kitty tribe, and how they wanted their wedding day to feel authentic and interactive with their guests.

Market Hall set the stage with an industrial look complete with string lights, historic charm, and a downtown view. Market Hall also provides an inclusive experience for their couples by providing an in-house catering and bar team! Rachel and James were able to include some of their favorite foods into their menu- from a vegetable curry to southern mac and cheese! In addition to amazing food, Market Hall also provides multiple spaces for the couple to use. Rachel and James utilized both getting ready suites to prep for the big day, held their ceremony in the Park View space, and held their reception in Market View. Couples can also opt to use the covered patio or apply for a street closure to hold an outside cocktail hour!

Rachel and James wanted to prioritize fun and celebration while creating a unique and personalized wedding day. Their color palette consisted of bright colors in shades of coral, yellow, and green. Rachel’s custom coral tuxedo from Indochino was one of the first elements we dreamed about when thinking of their wedding attire. Rachel knew she was meant to wear a tuxedo and wanted it to be vibrant and really showcase her personality. We paired this with a bow tie, floral corsage, and cohesive bridesmaid looks! We tied in transportation elements with a bus ticket seating chart and home-made wooden table numbers with bus details, Virginia Tech decals, and cat photos. To ensure that the dance floor would be a hit, we added a custom disco ball installation to the rafters. It’s hard not to dance when there’s disco balls!

In the realm of planning logistics, we were able to curate a fabulous vendor team, book hotel blocks, create a free-flowing floor plan, and build a minute by minute timeline. One of our favorite parts of a wedding day is seeing all of the logistical pieces come together!

Our favorite part of the wedding day was seeing Rachel and James bust it out on the dance floor. There was not a single dull moment once the dance floor opened! (Thanks, disco balls!) If nothing else is seen in these photos, we want everyone to see the pure joyfulness and happiness present throughout the day. It was so easy to tell that Rachel and James are so loved by their family and friends.

After the wedding day, we are so honored to have Rachel and James as lifelong friends. We’re looking forward to Indian food dates, game nights, and kitty visits!

Review from the couple:

Something Fabulous Weddings & Events absolutely NAILED our wedding. They were with us every step of the way and always went above and beyond with each aspect of planning. My wedding was one of the most important days of my life, and I would 10/10 choose SFW again. They took the stress out of planning while constantly exuding professionalism and knowledge of the industry. Highly, highly, highly recommend!
